We will have open mat for kyu test preparation and kyu testing this weekend (see schedule below). Saturday, August 8th: Open Mat 10:00AM to 11:30AM: We will have open mat time available for reviewing the upcoming kyu tests as well as general open mat time. All are welcome to participate in this 90 minute training session. Please note that we share the parking lot with several businesses that operate on Saturday morning so our members/guests will need to park in the Broken Spoke's parking lot (next door to our dojo) for the Saturday morning class. Sunday, August 9th: Kyu Testing 2:15PM to 3:15PM: We will have kyu testing during the second class. We plan on going out for dinner immediately following and all are welcome to join. |

Just a reminder to our group on where we post our SAA pictures. We have two URLs that can be used to see many photos on Phanfare (over 45G) . The first link below provides general access to our public photos. The second link allows members to log in using their Phanfare ID/password to see our SAA private photos and videos in addition to the public photos. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how to log into the member's access. Many Blessings, Todd |

It is good to be home. ASU Summer Camp in the Rockies was a great experience! There will be more information coming soon about the camp. George Ledyard Sensei took some videos of each of the teachers at this year's camp and posted them in the video section of his Facebook page (Thank you Ledyard Sensei). See link below. Enjoy! A group of us are attending the ASU Summer Camp just outside of Glenwood Springs, CO. The weather is perfect, excellent teachers, lots of training and great fun with our many friends (both new and old). This is truly an awesome camp and one that Aikidoka of all levels benefit from. Look for our update on our experience very soon. Not to worry. Even though some of us are at camp, the dojo is open this week for class during our normal hours. |

We recently finished a seminar with Bill Gleason Sensei of Shobu Aikido in Boston, Massachusetts. Sensei worked the entire weekend on the principle of entering and rotating the spine with proper posture. The key to the movement is to bend your knees and allow the energy to move down your spine. We worked from a variety of attacks each time working to keep our hips facing our partner and rotating the spine without twisting the hips away from our attacker. It was a mind teaser at first but became easier as the weekend progressed. Each movement was based on entering directly into uke’s power and twisting the spine. |

On Sunday Jesse Spears rolled 60 times to celebrate his birthday. Even with the dojo being quite warm due to the recond heat in Texas, Jesse did very well rolling for the many energetic aikidoka who helped with the special birthday rolls. Great Job Jesse and Happy Birthday! |
