Last January Jiai Aikido in San Diego hosted the first annual Aikido Bridge "Un Pont" Friendship Seminar. An event that provided "an opportunity to make friends and train under an international mix of fantastic instructors from many different organizations and styles." It was a great success and plans are currently underway for the 2008 Aikido Bridge in San Diego next January.

Several interesting articles and testimonials about this event have been written by people from across the US and posted on the aikidobridge website.  It well worth the time to read through these articles and testimonials (see link below).  Take a look and enjoy!

On February 17th and 18th, I was honored to attend the Aiki Shrine.  This is a training facility which was constructed in Saotome Sensei’s back yard in Myakka City, Florida.  The facility is fun just to get to see, with its traditional Japanese architecture and a large tori gate leading up to it.  The walls of the shrine all can be moved into the dressing rooms to convert it into an outdoor dojo.

As the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun and our Aikido training is no exception.  This coming weekend marks the first anniversary of the formation of South Austin Aikido. It is simply amazing how quickly a year has gone by.   So many wonderful things have happened in the past year for our Aikido community and it is time to celebrate!

We will have a potluck at Darrell White’s home starting at 5:00PM on Saturday, March 3rd.  Members, friends and family are all invited.  Everyone will get to bring and share his or her favorite dish in celebration of our dojo’s anniversary and we may even watch a few Aikido DVDs.

Maps will be available in the dojo or in the members section of our website later this week.  Please feel free to contact Todd Kammerer ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) if you have any questions.
