Welcome to South Austin Aikido

We were very blessed to have Mary Heiny Sensei in our dojo the weekend of March13 - 15.  We had a great turn out and with wonderful energy on the mat.  Too cool!  We will have more information to come very soon.

We will be hosting a seminar Mary Heiny Sensei this upcoming weekend. This will truly be an awesome event and Aikidoka of all levels are encouraged to attend both the weekend seminar and the pot luck Saturday night.

Seminar Schedule

• Friday 3/13 -- 6:00PM to 7:30PM
• Saturday 3/14 -- 10:00AM to 12:00PM and 2:30PM to 4:30PM followed by a pot luck at 7:00PM hosted by Darrell White
• Sunday 3/15 -- 10:00AM to 12:00PM

Please note that we share the parking lot wih several businesses in our building.  Typically this is not an issue since our class schedule is after they close (evenings and Sundays). These business do operate on Saturday morning so our members and guests will need to park in the Broken Spoke's parking lot (next door to our dojo) for the Saturday morning portion of the seminar.

On Tuesday, February 24th Sara tested for Junior Rokyu.  This was her first Aikido test and all of the preparation leading up to the test paid off.  Sara did a fantastic job and showed she has learned a lot about Aikido in a short time.  She moved very confidently with a relaxed motion that was a joy to watch.  Sara easily handled all of the required techniques and many of the additional ones I threw at her.  Way to Sara on a great test!!  Not bad for our youngest aikidoka, who just turned 13. Thanks for the cookies too!!

Just a reminder that Daylight Saving Time will begin this weekend at 2:00AM on Sunday, March 8th, at which time we will turn our clocks forward one hour (spring forward).

It is that time again to clean the mats as well as the rest of the dojo.  We will spend the time immediately following the first class on Sunday, March 1st to perform the dojo clean up.  As the saying goes "Many hands make quick work" and as such all members are encouraged to come and help so that we can quickly finish (typically within 45-60 minutes).
