Aiki Kids This instruction is for children ages 7 through 12, providing a learning environment that teaches respect while allowing the students to have fun. Careful instruction will be given on coordination skills as well as the overall art. Teens will have the option to train in the Aiki Kids class and/or adult classes. Basics Instruction is organized around basic principles and techniques. The pace of the class and material presented is directed toward beginning level students. Senior students also attend these classes. All Levels Instruction is organized around more advanced principles and techniques. The pace of the class is directed toward the intermediate and advanced student. Beginners are welcome to participate in these classes with the understanding that the instructor and senior training partners will modify the class material appropriate to the junior student’s level. Advanced Instruction focus is on advanced principles and techniques, with the pace of the class directed toward the advanced student. This class is open to all levels. Weapons/Dori South Austin Aikido offers traditional weapons classes in the bokken (Japanese wooden sword), the jo (short staff) and tanto (wooden knife). The use of weapons in our practice heightens one’s awareness of the attack, while teaching the importance of entering, distance and centerline. The moments emphasize breathing, balance, timing, and blending with the actions of your partner. Weapons training is complementary to the empty hand techniques of Aikido. Class is open to all levels. Yoga with LeeAnn and South Austin Aikido - Sunday mornings, Monday/Wednesday mid-day and occational Wednesday evening Workshops In the tradition of Viniyoga, pranayama and variations of the traditional asanas are used to allow students to create personal physical and meditative experiences for themselves. Austin Ki Aikido - Saturday and Wednesday Classes Our friends at Austin Ki Aikido will be practicing in the SAA Dojo on Saturdays, except when there are seminars or other SAA events. Check out the AKAC website for more information on classes.
