On Saturday, Todd, Denne, Gilbert, Tim, Christie and myself went to San Antonio to train with our friends at Alamo City Aikido. It seemed like we had not been down to San Antonio in years, though it was actually only few months, so it was definitely time to go. Craig Slack Sensei taught an awesome class that left us reeling mentally on new ways to think about our movement and method of blending and connecting to our partners. We started off with tenkan and moved into kosadori kokyunage and ikkyo. Then we focused on shomenuchi ikkyo while attempting to integrate the new ideas into our technique. It was a lot of fun, providing us plenty to focus on in the near future. Following training we went to Taco Cabana for a light snack. Okay, we ate a lot prior to heading home and we even managed to stop for the traditional milkshake on the way home. Denne has decided he likes our method of travel by not missing any eating opportunities. It was a fun trip, even though a little too short due to the holiday season. We will get together again early next month. |
