Wow. Looking back at 2006, one could not have predicted the many changes and improvements in our training space as well as opportunities for training. Congratulations to everyone in our Aikido community on a truly amazing year of growth! This year we will have five ASU seminars in our area, including some of the top level instructors in the ASU organization. These seminars will include Bill Gleason Sensei in February, Kevin Choate Sensei in May, George Ledyard Sensei in October, Ikeda Sensei in December and Sunny Skys Sensei (date to be determined). With this incredible level of instruction available, it promises to be a very exciting year of training for us all. Through our practice we continue to grow in our understanding of Aikido, of ourselves and of each other. This past year we have focused on the understanding of connection while maintaining our own posture throughout the technique. During this process we discovered that we still have much to learn. We will continue this in 2007 with the additional focus on entering both physically and mentally. In addition, I am planning to add more weapons practice to our regular training week in support of test preparation as well as several special Saturday training sessions to cover various training topics. I would like to take a moment to thank a few of our members who have contributed a lot of time taking care of the business of running our dojo this past year. This includes Todd Kammerer, Tim Schmelter and Chad Leath. These guys have spent a lot of their free time making sure we have a place to train and a means of supporting it. When you get a chance please give these guys a special pat on the back because they mean a lot to our community. I look forward to working with each of you as we continue to improve little by little, each and every day of training. Now lets get ready for some training in 2007!! |
