On Sunday we had three kyu tests with Gilbert T Hughes testing for Rokyu and both Marty Herzog and Elijah Stone testing for Gokyu. To watch the Rokyu test, you may not realize that it was Gilbert’s first kyu test. Gilbert went through many techniques like he had been doing them for years, showing a solid understanding for his level. Great job Gilbert! During the two Gokyu tests, I asked for many techniques which were not on their tests and both handled each one with ease. Marty’s randori showed a lot of improvement in utilizing the mat and with keeping calm during the randori. Elijah handled many techniques and showed a lot of improvement as well. Way to go Marty and Elijah! Following the kyu tests, we all went to Pei Wei for dinner, where we enjoyed good food and wonderful conversations on Aikido. Congratulations to Gilbert, Marty and Elijah on three very well done kyu tests. Great work everyone on preparing these test candidates for their kyu tests and thank you to everyone who provided ukemi during these kyu tests. Click here for the kyu test pictures. |
