On August 5th we had three kyu tests with Bill Sengbusch and Michael Sekirin testing for Rokyu and Charles Pummill testing for Sankyu. The Rokyu tests were impressive with both Bill and Michael displaying many advanced ideas in their aikido. They may not have always used the most convenient way to get to a technique but always knew what the technique looked like. They both moved with a lot of aiki principles in their movement, which was impressive to see, especially when you consider that both have only a few months of training under their belts. Great job Michael and Bill on your test effort. Charles did a great job on his Sankyu test, showing a lot of improvement since his last test. Charles has clearly expanded his understanding of aikido knowledge to include many more than just a few techniques. Great job Charles! Ross did a great job on executing the required techniques and even pulled a few surprises out of his hat. His randori showed tremendous improvement in movement and in principle. Great job Ross! Stephen Hughes, despite recently missing some time for band camp and summer work, showed that he has been increasing his understanding of Aikido a rapid rate. I tried to stump him with a few unusual techniques, but could not. He even threw in a koshi for good measure. Awesome job Stephen!! Click here for pictures of the August 19th kyu testing |
