What an incredible weekend for our Aikido community!  We just completed our weekend seminar with Mary Heiny Sensei, which was our most successful seminar to date.  The energy was wonderful, with over 30 people training in every session throughout the weekend.  It was an exciting, fun filled weekend which also included a pot luck dinner where we proved once again to be great eaters.

Mary Heiny Sensei was sensational by sharing her vast Aikido experience and knowledge which lead to an inspirational weekend.  Her line and ability to explain her motivation behind the movements was very helpful to aikidoka at all levels.  She reminded us of what we should be doing in our training, which is always to focus on protecting yourself and your partner.  It is an important distinction, which prevents our ego from taking over and making our technique more about winning.  She also told us to focus on connection and acceptance with our partners as these are the goals of Aikido.  The technique and ending are the by product of how well we are able to receive the energy from our partners and lead it into our own movement.

We are most appreciative of Mary Heiny Sensei for traveling to Texas to share her Aikido with us and hope to have this opportunity again in the future.  Thanks to everyone who came from near and far to participate in the wonderful weekend of training and contributing to the great success of this seminar.

Special thanks to Violina and Denne for taking such good care of Mary Heiny Sensei and hosting the pot luck Saturday night and thanks to our many members who helped prepare for and manage this special event.
