We recently finished a seminar with Bill Gleason Sensei of Shobu Aikido in Boston, Massachusetts.

Sensei worked the entire weekend on the principle of entering and rotating the spine with proper posture.  The key to the movement is to bend your knees and allow the energy to move down your spine.  We worked from a variety of attacks each time working to keep our hips facing our partner and rotating the spine without twisting the hips away from our attacker.  It was a mind teaser at first but became easier as the weekend progressed.  Each movement was based on entering directly into uke’s power and twisting the spine.

The attendance from our Aikido community was awesome, with people from around Austin, San Antonio and Houston.  On Saturday evening, we had a pot-luck at the home of Darrell White.  There seemed to be more food than we could have eaten in a week.  Most of us probably ate too much but we all had a great time visiting with all who came to the pot-luck.

Thank you Bill Gleason Sensei for an incredible weekend and thank you all who attended, helping us make this seminar an enjoyable weekend!
